Pappu and his girls

Pappu and I go a long way back... 3rd standard to be precise..and he gives u this impression of being a real dork. Well atleast he looks like one...but i must say that looks do decieve. Anyway this post is not about him as a person but his various encounters with the fairer sex.
Vivek(a.k.a pappu) is not what i would call a ladies man...he ain't sauve..he ain't sophisticated (far from it)...he ain't very clever around them either...but fortunately for him the girls he has been around are dumber than him.He had a crush on a girl for a year...but felt that beauty(as he considered her to be)..should be admired form a far..and reacted the only way he could..not even look at her(sheepish dumbass). He was desperate to have a girlfriend in our final year in school and tried many a times to score..but i guess the girls over there weren't that dumb. There was this really pretty girl in our tuition who had no problem talking to me...but always looked away from me when pappu was around.Don't believe me....check this out

We both were standing outside the tuition waiting for my dad to pick us up when..
Pappu: Hey avi...look she has come out...i wanna talk to her
Me: go ahead...talk man talk..she is all urs(performing somersaults in the inside)
pappu: But what would i say..u know..ice-breaker..tell me
me: well u could go inside get ur book back(we never took our tuition books home...poor kannan sir..dunno why he put up with us)..and on the way u could ask her who she is waiting for...where she lives and all that crap
pappu: great idea avi...really great..ok i am going
me: aha
pappu: ok..i'm going
me: ok go..
pappu: yea yea...i'm going
me: sonofa***** are u going or not?
and i nudged him forward...He moves to her..very slowly...but moves all the same..as he approaches her..she looks at him....and takes a step in his direction..pappu is stuck..normally he has to go 99 for the girls to 1..but not now..it was his time..all those years of sharpening the women-endearing charm seems to be finally paying off..and she moves closer...and now they were at arms length of each other...and finally when he opens his mouth to make the conversation...the girl side tracks like as though to avoid the on-coming traffic...and goes straight to her mom who was walking behind pappu..the mom and her exchange greetings..walk past me..she was gracious enough to give me a smile....and walked away...leaving pappu banging his head on the wall...and me..well...laughing even to this day...

P.S: Things have changed from that day...he is now in Mumbai...and has a girlfriend or two..guess girls are dumber there....

Black Friday

Normally i do not like dedicating my post on anything that is serious...but this time i must make an exception. Sreenath and I decided to catch a hindi movie yesterday coz we had no intention of sitting in class. So we were checking out the list of prospecting movies to waste our money over and finally we chose 'Black Friday'. It was the last day of screening of the movie and since we did hear good things about the movie, we thought we'll give it a shot. I must confess I have seen better movies...but this is a movie which reflects the truth in the way it should about something as politically volatile and sensitive as the '93 Mumbai bomb blasts. This is also the first movie i have seen since 'tHiNk!' was formed and i intend to do a small review of every movie i have seen.

The movie begins quite aptly with a quote from Mahatma Gandhi -"An eye for eye makes the whole world blind". And shows the bomb erupt as the story's prologue. From there on the director goes in great detail depicting the total destruction of the bombs, the turmoil of the perpetrators, real-life footage and the ruthlessness of the Mumbai police. When i found out that the book was written by Hussain Zaidi, i thought this will give a very prejudiced view of the event...making us feel that this was bound to happen and deservedly so. But to my surprise it was a very sincere and truthful projection of the ghastly event were no one is solely responsible, no one is innocent. My favourite dialogue was when Kay Kay Menon ( who gave a cool performance...but this was never supposd to be character driven flick) whips to a perpetrator "Is baar Allah humare saath hain"(This time Allah is with us).

Friends this is a good movie..no doubts about that. If i were a critic i would give it 3.5 /5 . A sterling effort by Anurag Kashyap in his first directorial venture and also a big hand to Hussain Zaidi to what would certainly be a great book....

The New Look

I am quite certain u all might have noticed the changes to the blog...if not i suggest u meet an eye doctor. The next thing u must be thinking is...why change now? For which my answer is very simple...I am BORED! I have nothing to do but tweek my profile in orkut or my blog and scrap people for the sake of scrapping them. I must admit orkut does while away ur time..u do end up having to do a lot when ur on orkut. I also believe that it is a great place to advertise anything..since there are many jobless people like u and me out there. Once i changed my 'relationship status' to commited and all hell broke loose (actually 3 girls asked why did i do that.....but i am pleased that it only concerned the girls and not any guys). So for those who seek attention just do things to ur profile and wonderful things will happen..

Another change that has come about my blog is that i have done with the counter. Why u might ask..for which my answer is simple..if u did look at my last post u would know that i have made a resolution to free my mind of all unneccesary worries...and this is yet another step in that direction as i cannot and should not worry abt how many people have lost the zest for living after reading my blog..and how uninteresting it has become(which maybe noted from the dwindling hit count).

I do wish i had better things to write about but the bloggers block has really got the better of me..but my mind is quite resilient..after all it has not given up on me for so long has it? The war between my mind and the bloggers block is still being fought and there seems no end in sight. There have been some confidence building measure being put forward by the mind but the bloggers block does seem to be in a mood for diplomacy. What will happen next?Watch this space....

How to Blog about Bloggers Block?

That's right friends..in all my 2 months and 14 posts of a blog career i have never been in this position b4...What do i write about? For a person who has an opinion on everything this is a first. I could write about my love life(hahahahahahahaha), or about my various academic achievements (who the hell am i kidding), or even about my friends(who are already pretty cheezed with me after my 'camp fire' post..so not a good idea..still need my teeth). I would love to talk about my dog..but then i would end up sounding like that girl in the hutch ad and i guess that would seriously question my manhood...so drop that. Damnnn!! I have nothing to write about!

I think i am over-worked..too many things on my mind at the moment....How to cut tomorrows class? Whose lunch should i steal? Will i flunk in the univs? What will become of aishwarya now that she is going to get hitched with that abhi-whatever?...i think these things really drain u from thinking about what to blog about. So i think it is time i make a resoultion for the sake of the regular readers of this blog( what a life u must be having to read this regularly). I have decide to free my mind of all the worries that plague me to this day. So from now on..no more cribbing abt the abhi-ash wedding(bollywood weddings don't last forever..will nab her when in abt 8 to 10 yrs)...no more worrying abt where the next lunch will come from(will go by alphabetical order from now on..be systematic avinash)..and no more pondering over cutting class (just cut)....phew..that was a huge load!! So dear friends it has been done..no worries..and i will report the next time a brain-wave hits me..so until then...cheerio
